I love the Sketchbook Project because...
As a result of participating in the Sketchbook Project 2011 I've been discovering so many amazing artists.
I want to encourage all you wonderful participants to share what you love most about the Sketchbook Project and add a link to your own blog so we can see your progress so far. As an extra incentive to share your work with us I'm going to pick a comment (at random) and send that person a little prize. I'll make the draw next Sunday night, 15 August (Australian time).
I'll get the ball rolling..."I love the Sketchbook Project because it encourages people all over the world to create and share together."
Now your turn. I love the Sketchbook Project because...

ReplyDeleteI haven't started posting yet, but my blog address is:

Hey! I signed up because of you!!! I haven't got my sketchbook yet, but I'm itching to get started...I'm very excited, I'll definitely be blogging about it on www.lovemakethink.com thanks so much for bringing it to my attention. I will happily promote your endeavours!!
ReplyDeleteAll the best and happy sketchbooking
I didn't answer the question dah!!!
ReplyDelete...because it kicks starts my creative juices into a direction I may not have pursued off my own back.
...I can visually say what's on my mind & in a way that everyone interprets in their own way. http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=17735&id=100000161498846&l=fa30f53b77
ReplyDeleteHi JJ, waiting for the book to arrive is so painful! So glad I could help introduce you to the project. :o)
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog--this is lovely! I am really enjoying the sketchbook project as well. What a fabulous idea, isn't it?
ReplyDelete....I'm enjoying having a theme to focus on, and a deadline to help me fill the book!
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog too.
I love the Sketchbook Project because it is pushing me to make art that I don't normally do. I have no problem finishing projects, but I tend keep doing art projects I am comfortable with. I am very new to art journaling and this is really pushing me out of my comfort zone. (LOL...sorry this is so long, I just love talking about this!)

Hi Kim, I know the feeling! I need a bit of a push to try something a bit different (outside my genre of four-year-old cartoon art). ;o) Thanks for sharing!

ReplyDeleteI'll take your challenge. I wanted to get better at doing lino cut faces. I like the dark side of the lino cut images and wanted to use that medium to explore the financial crisis. I also wanted to understand how we got into this mess and who were the con artisit that worked one over on us.
I have been writing about it here.

After I read your post I was curious about what this "Sketchbook Project" is and clicked the button on your sidebar. What an amazing idea! I think it's great and something future generations will treasure for a long time.
ReplyDeleteLove the blog! I'm stopping by from SITS :-)
Thanks for the SITS visit! It's such a cool project (guess that's why I can't stop yammering on about it). ;-)
ReplyDeleteThanks papier....you are a CHAMP!
ReplyDeleteI (really) love the sketchbook project because i now draw every week instead of just thinking about it and I am learning to play with new media because I can't draw with my beloved "smudgy" pastels!
I used coloured pencils the other day for the first time in about 15 years...go sketchbook project! My blog is at http://www.sketchingafaceinthecrowd.blogspot.com/
I'm from Mexico and I loved these proyect because is a great way to encourage art and carefulness for important things in life.
ReplyDeletemy blog is

I write things in spanish, but anyway, as soon as I get my sketchbook I'll post my progress GOOD LUCK!
...it provides me the incentive I need to try something new, the personal gratification for simply completing something, and a host of new friends in places all over the globe.
ReplyDeleteI love the Sketchbook Project because it has reminded me of how wonderfully freeing it is to collage like a happy little kid. :D
ReplyDeleteI've been updating my blog about my progress through it: http://approachable-art.blogspot.com/2010/08/sketchbook-project-update.html
I love the Sketchbook Project because it draws artists together from all over the world. It doesn't matter who you are, what you use to create your art or how far away you are we can all create more art for the world to see. I love the thought that my little old sketchbook will travel to the States and someone there will hold it, look at it and hopefully I will trigger some emotion in them.
ReplyDeleteAs a creative person it is also quite simply good to have the discipline and the creation of a deadline to adhere too.
Hi Jen,
ReplyDeleteIsn't it fun to imagine all the different people who might hold and look at your book, that you get to talk directly to them even though you might be on the other side of the world!
I love knowing that such a thing exists! Thank you for introducing me to this. I used to sketch, and haven't in a few years, so I will go check it out.
ReplyDeleteI love the Sketchbook Project because...
ReplyDeleteit got me using a sketchbook again!
My progress will be documented here:

Hi Margaret. You should definitely join up, I think you still can until October 31. It is such a fun way to get back into sketching, painting, creating!
ReplyDeleteHi Ciera, I love what you've posted up on your site so far. Can't wait to see more!!
ReplyDeleteHow exciting! I just received my sketchbook and plan on working on it this weekend. I love this idea, and can meet more artists. I love this idea because it is forcing me to a deadline and hoping it will make
ReplyDeleteme think outside the box. Plus, it such an awesome idea!
I love the Sketchbook Project because...
ReplyDeleteas someone who's always wanted to draw but lacked the talent, it's allowed me to focus my energy on one thing (and hopefully improve along the way)
Also, I'd like to send my dwarf that I draw on a little road trip across the U.S. (although I've yet to upload any to the group yet=\)
For now, I give you Man Cat:
http://thedailymancat.blogspot.com/
A prime example of my inability to draw, which I'm totally fine with. =)
Hi Dennis. Don't worry, I've been told I need to embrace my 4-year-old drawing style (thanks Em), but yours is really quite lovely. Man cat is great!
ReplyDeleteI love the sketchbook project because it helps me get involved with something globally and work towards something.

Great to be part of something so big! Very awesome-here's my very colorful blog-posting my Sketchbook Project 2011 progress.
ReplyDeletewww.margemalwitz.blogspot.com
Thanks for sharing that with us Marge, I love what you have done so far, and also your gorgeously colorful blog header!
ReplyDeleteI love the Sketchbook Project because... I like being part of a large collaborative project, and I have never heard of one this large before! I also like that it gives me an excuse, a reason if you must, to art-up a journal, share my art and myself really, with others. It feels very "right" to me. I am also sure that when I am done with my moleskine for this project, I will continue keeping an artist journal, which is something I never did before!
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog, papier et encre! You can read all of my posts about the sketchbook project 2011 here. thanks!
Hi Lenna,
ReplyDeleteThat is so great that the Sketchbook Project has got you art journaling for the first time! I started a little while ago after watching some Suzi Blu videos on YouTube. It's such a therapeutic activity.
it has challenged me to do something I would have never done...pursue a lifelong dream to learn how to draw. Thank you for the opportunity to do this!
ReplyDeleteThat is great Shirley, me too! So great that you're taking steps to reach that goal!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations for your blog! :)
ReplyDeleteLove Sketchbook Project because it gives me an incredible opportunity to know people all over the world and share my drawings with other artists. And love it too because it makes me think about future plans for travelling to see the original sketchbooks. Exciting!!!
A great experience!
You can see my drawings for this project in my site:

I love the sketchbook project because I get to draw for days and days , and my book has a nice little narrative because we have been given a theme Mine is "The View From Up Here" Last year I did Ëlephant in the Room"and went to Taronga Zoo to draw pages of elephants. My little book from last year is now living in New York (people have sent me photos of them looking at it there. !!) AND I have met the most interesting creative people around the world
ReplyDeleteI love Sketchbook project because...
ReplyDeleteFor me it's my firt time into a project
For me it's a opportunity to do something different, to meet my sketches in a book (now scattered!!!!)
I'm discovering the work of other artists
Now I move into the world that I like!!!
www.maggicosvillage.blogspot.com
how many pages are in the sketchbook?
ReplyDeleteI think there are about 80 pages, or 40 spreads in the Moleskine Cahier books. (The last few are perferated). Hope that helps.
ReplyDeleteI love the Sketchbook Project! I am an artist and take a sketchbook everywhere! I hope kids do this.I teach art and drawing to children and love to encourage them to draw!! I have a children`s book called To the Cider Mill (fb to the cider mill) where kids draw along with the story. It has been a great way to connect kids with art!!
ReplyDeleteThanks!!
Hi Danna! I know of a few children who are doing the project, which is fantastic. Hopefully it will become habit and they won't lose that wonderful creative ability we all have as children, which often becomes rusty as we grow older.
ReplyDelete...it sends my art out into the world. It is such a great opportunity to meet other artists from all over. Plus it's a super cool idea!!
ReplyDeleteMy progress is posted on my blog.
-thanks for the opportunity to visit with so many people who are also participating!
I recently broke my ankle and am laid up keeping my leg elevated for a few months so the Sketchbook project has been a Godsend by giving me something to keep me occupied.
ReplyDeleteYou can follow my progress on my blog at: http://brattleboro-muse.blogspot.com/

ReplyDeletei love the sketchbook project it's my first project and love the freedom to create something around a theme also to be part of a bigger community working on the same basic idea of filling a book with art

Hi eyeryone!
ReplyDeleteI like The Sketchbook Project because it simply gave me a reason/lust to draw again, I've been working in advertising industry for 16-17 years now, started as a skecth artist, but ever since Mac and 3D software took over 10 years ago, I`ve barly touched a pen... so I'm a little rusty, anyway here is my sketchbook so far:

Hi Yukho,
ReplyDeleteYour work is amazing! Can't wait to see what you do next.
The Sketchbook Project is such interesting to me that I can't describe clearly the reason why I love it.
ReplyDeleteSo I just take an ounce of practice to express my love. :D
I love the Sketchbook Project because it's giving me a good kick up the bum to keep drawing! Plus I get to have a good nosey around everyone else's blogs and sketchbooks, what could be better?
ReplyDeleteI loved doing it because it was a project with a finite timeline. I have so many unfinished sketchbooks that finishing one sounded really exciting. I scanned the pages and put them up on Flickr:
