This week's Illustration Friday theme is Star Gazing. What a lovely topic! It immediately had me wishing for warm summer nights, lying on the grass by the lake, watching the stars overhead.
I did these in my Sketchbook Project book. Well actually, on watercolour paper which I then stuck in. The top is using a wash with salt in it (I discovered it only really works if it is table salt, not the sticky sea-salt kind). I then used a metalic mist spray and a stencil to make the stars. Unforunately you can't see how shimmery they are.
The second one is a watercolour and ink and coloured pencil drawing. I tried the salt thing again but ended up just painting in some little stars.

very pretty scene. So inviting, with the places set and no one there.

ReplyDeleteEm, I'm still working out the salt thing but I think I'll do another 'test' post and show you all my results. I went out and bought regular table salt and some giant rock salt (smallest pack I could get was half a kilo)!!
