iPad folio

Let's face it, as an artist or photographer you need to have your portfolio handy at all times. It isn't enough to hand out a business card with a link to your website, you need to be able to show people as you are talking to them.

What better way to do that than via iPad? It's the perfect compromise between screen size and portability, and images display beautifully.

But once you've bought your shiny new iPad, what app do you use to display your images? Here are a few options:

Photos
  1. Comes free with your iPad
  2. You can create folders and run slideshows (with music and five different transitions)
  3. Easy to use
  4. Can't automatically sinc with online albums but will continue to work without internet connection
Flickr app
  1. Free from the iTunes store
  2. You can search your own account or the whole Flickr site
  3. Not optimised for iPad (doesn't scale well)
  4. Doesn't work offline
  5. Limited features
  6. Not a very professional folio presentation option
    Zinman portfolio app
    1. Uses photos from any of your online galleries (picasa, flickr etc)
    2. Ability to add your own captions and thumbnails
    3. Four different transitions for slideshows
    4. Really bad reviews so far in iTunes
    5. US$4.99
    Nick Kuh custom iPad app
    1. Tailored portfolio app
    2. Clients / fans can download it from iTunes
    3. Based on your flickr account
    4. Looks pretty cool to have your very own iPad app
    5. Costs $799

    1. Your not the only one behind on the 31DBBB challenge - I just posted after you. I think that if you put more focus on your opinion 'that artist and Photographers need to carry there work examples with them rather than just there business cards' then that would be more of the focus and the iPad (which I really really want one) would be an example of a tool they could use to do that.

It is a very useful post!

    2. Thanks so much Sonia. I'll have a go at re-writing it.
