Sketchbook Project: Winter Ball

Last night I went to a Winter Masquerade Ball with some friends, to raise money for charity. The event is called Stomp, and held a few times a year with a different theme each time. It's put on by the different dance schools around Canberra, who also provide some entertainment in the form of VERY impressive demonstrations throughout the night.

So...we made some masks, got dressed up and went along to dance the night away. And the night wouldn't have been complete if I hadn't added a Sketchbook Project entry about it!
I had some interesting issues because after laying down three layers of Gesso you could still see the ink from the previous page, so I put down some white acrylic paint...but of course my coloured pencils didn't work very well over the top! You can't see very well in the scan but the snow and snowflakes are all glittery.

  3. I love your sketchbook idea so much. I'm a complete moleskine addict, but I almost always just write in them. I keep trying to find the inspiration to do more sketching, I love drawing with charcoal.

  4. Hi Jade! Me too, I already have so many of them lying around the house. No reason why you couldn't write on every second page and draw / sketch on the other...even if it is just work-related drawings. :)
