Sketchbook Project 2012 is open!

I couldn't be more excited today! My iPad 2 was delivered early, I've signed up to the 2012 Sketchbook Project, AND the 2012 tour is coming to Australia!

If you loved the Sketchbook Project 2011 as much as I did, or maybe you wished you had taken part but left it too's your chance to sign up! The Sketchbook Project 2012 is now open for registration!

Run by the Art House Co-op, the Sketchbook Project is "a traveling exhibition of sketchbooks created by artists like you. Anyone - from anywhere in the world - can be a part of the Project. To participate and receive a blank sketchbook that will join our 2012 tour, start by choosing a theme."

The themes this year are:
  • I remember you
  • The last of people I know
  • In 50 years
  • Ask me how I can help
  • Across the world
  • The first ever...
  • Hope
  • In 10 minutes
  • Along the line
  • Grey side of life
  • Fill me with stories
  • Things found under car seats
  • Untitled
  • Travel with me
  • Forever in a nutshell
  • Disasters
  • This is a sketchbook
  • The worst story ever told
  • Fears and tears
  • The companion books
  • Transatlantic
  • It's summer where you are
  • It's winter where you are

I've chosen "In 10 minutes...".

It looks like Art House have ditched the Moleskine books and created a custom sketchbook this time around:
"Sketchbookers spoke and we listened! This year, Art House created a custom-designed sketchbook in collaboration with Scout Books featuring a host of improvements and a greener footprint. This year's official Sketchbook Project book is made from high quality 100% recycled paper milled in the Pacific Northwest, printed with vegetable-based inks and produced with renewable energy. We've also improved the weight and texture of the paper, enhanced the strength of the cover and selected wire saddle stitching so that each book is easier to rebind if necessary. We're proud to say that these are the best books we've ever been able to offer for the Sketchbook Project – thanks to feedback from hundreds of members of the Art House community."

If you're in Canberra (or elsewhere in Australia that doesn't have it's own dedicated group) come join us on Facebook to share pics, and stay up to date. We'll also be having some face-to-face sketch-ups!

And if you're on Twitter, I'm creating a list of 2011 participants so let me know if you are doing the project.

You can also find me on the Art House Co-op page under Papier.

Now I just have to wait for my sketchbook to be delivered!

Don't be sad that you've reached the end of the post... Come keep me company on Facebook, Twitter or YouTube. And don't forget you can also subscribe to the Brown Paper Bunny email or follow my blog with bloglovin
