Very Busy Barbie

As a kid I was completely in love with Little Golden Books. Recently I came across some well worn favorites and have been giving them a bit of new life by turning them into notebooks. I love the ridiculously un-PC Barbie from the early '90s, and 'Very Busy Barbie' by Barbara Slate (illustrated by Winslow Mortimer) is no exception. In the story Barbie and a brunette are fighting over modelling jobs, all while Barbie is doing community service (perhaps for a drug conviction?).

I've hand bound the book using coptic stitching and interspersed the original story pages among the blank paper signatures so you can have a chuckle at the story while you are taking notes / journaling / sketching etc.
The cover is 5.9 x 7.87 inches and the whole book is 1.3 inches thick (15 x 20 cm and 3.5 cm thick). The paper is good quality drawing cartridge.
You can buy 'Very Busy Barbie' over at the Brown Paper Bunny store.

  1. We read this very story weekly! Don't forget there is a moral - beauty is more than skin deep! If you liked this you'll love 'barbie and the diamond thief' where she gets a reward for finding diamonds then donates the cheque to the local children's hospital... Gold!

Love the idea of the chuckle that you get part way through note taking.

  6. My favorite Little Golden Book is The Monster At The End of This Book (the Grover only version). I had a Barbie one with her sister Skipper. I like this book. What a fun idea.

  7. Hi Melody, that was my favorite Golden Book as a kid too! I wish I could find a copy now, but I suspect it is a bit of a collector's item these days.
