I'm up to week four in the Chiaroscuro class at the Academy of Art University. I am definitely learning a lot, including how to really see light and shade more effectively, and practicing putting what I see down on paper.
It's certainly a heavy workload, with the above image taking me several hours to complete, and only one of our exercises due this week. Also, this week I discovered that you know you've been drawing too much with charcoal when your pores are full of charcoal dust and you start to sneeze black, ick!
Do you have experience drawing with charcoal? I'd love any useful pointers or advice you can give! You can also keep up with my progress and finished assignments on Instagram too.
